Privacy Policy

Space Gunners collects as little as it can: no analytics, and Gunnr accounts are optional. The site shows ads served by Google AdSense.

What we collect

• The name you play under. It's sent to the game server, shown to other players, and may be kept in our game records (for example, a list of a game's top players) and in server logs.
• What happens in the game. The server records gameplay statistics such as ships flown, kills, deaths, damage and energy, to balance the game. These are tied to your in-game name, not to you.
• How often and how long you play. Your browser keeps a random player ID (see below) and sends it to the game server when you press Play. The server stores only a scrambled (hashed) form of it, with, for each day you played: how many times you pressed Play, how long you were in the arena, which ships you flew and for how long, the names you played under, and when each of your sessions started and ended. We use this to count players and to see how long and how they play. It isn't stored with your IP address or anything else about you, but because it includes the names you played under, anything you put in a name ends up in these records too.
• Connection details. Like any website, our servers see your IP address and basic browser information when you connect (the game server, and the server running your arena if that's another of ours). We use IP addresses only to keep the game running (including limiting how many players can play from one network at once) and to slow down repeated sign-in attempts on admin pages, and we don't keep them in our game records. Our hosting providers may keep standard access logs.

We don't ask for your email, real name or any other personal details, and we don't sell or share what we collect.

Stored in your browser

The game saves the name and ship you last chose in your browser's local storage, so they're filled in next time, and a random player ID used only for the play records described above. The ID is made up at random and says nothing about you; the name and ship stay on your device. You can remove all three by clearing this site's data in your browser. Space Gunners itself sets no cookies for players; Google AdSense does (see below). Admins who sign in get a session cookie that keeps them signed in.

Gunnr accounts

You can play without an account. When the game page loads, it asks gunnr.io whether you're signed in to a Gunnr account, so it can show the account bar at the top; that request carries your Gunnr sign-in cookie if you have one. Accounts, that cookie and Sign in with Google are covered by the Gunnr Games Privacy Policy.

Other services

The site's fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. See Google's Privacy Policy.

The home, About, Terms and Privacy pages show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, which may be based on your earlier visits to this and other websites, and to measure them; your browser sends Google your IP address, browser information and the page you're on. See how Google uses cookies in advertising and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can turn off personalized ads in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of other vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info. Apart from Google Fonts and AdSense, we use no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media trackers.

How long we keep it

Game records and daily play records are kept to compare games and play over time, with no fixed time limit, until we delete them. You can ask us to delete yours at any time (see below). Server logs are kept only as long as needed to run and fix the game.

Children

Space Gunners isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Please don't put personal information in your player name.

Your choices

You can play under any name and change it any time from Menu. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes your player ID; you get a new one next time, so later play isn't linked to earlier play. To ask about, or have us remove, records tied to a name you've used (game records and daily play records alike), email us with the name and roughly when you played.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
